Incidents and accidents hurt people, damage property, interfere with work and limit profit. Learn how to investigate incidents and accidents in order to prevent them from recurring, and turn negative situations into positive learning opportunities.

This competency-based course focuses on learning from both potential and actual incidents and accidents in order to prevent future ones from happening. The course covers:

  • An introduction to why we investigate incidents and accidents where we live and work
  • The initial response to incidents and accidents
  • Collecting evidence and information
  • Analyzing the information
  • Determining the real root causes
  • Positive permanent corrective actions
  • Positive and constructive communication of findings

The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) has previously awarded CM points for this event. The current course contains 6.5 technical hours and may be eligible for BCRSP CM points. See the BCRSP web site at www.bcrsp.ca for CM point criteria.

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) has previously awarded 1 CM credit for this event. The current course contains 6.5 hours, which can be claimed for CM credit. See the ABIH website www.abih.org for more information.
